No matter how you say it, you’re welcome at Doutta GallaEntering Aged Care for the first time can be daunting for an older person and for their family.  At Doutta Galla we want this experience to be as welcoming and as informative as possible.  We pride ourselves on ensuring that support is provided every step of the way. The Admissions Officer is one of the first people our potential new resident and their relatives meet.  It is their role to guide them on this important journey and provide information that allows a new resident and their family to understand the process of entering aged care - financially, medically, legally, emotionally and especially to find an environment that suits their needs.To be successful in this role, you must be able to take the time to understand the person.  This means you will possess high emotional intelligence, an ability to empathise with the new resident and their families and the ability to ask meaningful questions about their care needs.  You will work with diverse people and will need to communicate effectively based on the situation you face. Understanding the residential aged care admission process and the complexity of aged care is vital, so previous experience in a similar position is preferred.  In addition, the ability to understand the financial, regulatory and administrative complexities associated with residential care admissions will be required.  You will also be expected to work closely with hospital social workers, case managers and aged care placement staff to ensure the smooth transition for new residents into our aged care homes.This role will travel to various Doutta Galla Aged Care Homes in the inner Western Suburbs of Melbourne and flexibility to meet with people outside business hours may sometimes be required.This is initially a 12 month role with the potential for ongoing employment.
